DAN SEALSDan Seals, one of the Seals family of successful country and soft rock musicians, died on 25 March, 2009.In the early stages of his career he was best known under the moniker England Dan and as one half of the pop rock duo England Dan & John Ford Coley who had an international hit with I'd Really Love to See You Tonight (1976) and other charting singles during the remainder of the decade. In the 1980s he went solo and became a prominent feature of the US Country charts, with 11 number one singles before 1990. His best known material, including the singles Bop, Everything That Glitters (Is Not Gold) and Marie Osmond duet Meet Me in Montana, was from his Gold album Won't Be Blue Anymore (1985).He continued to record and tour in the 1990s, returning to some of his older material with a stripped down acoustic sound. Later in his career he began performing with his brother Jim who had himself been part of a ’70s duo, Seals and Crofts. Uncle Troy Seals and cousin Brady Seals are other members of the Seals musical clan.Danny Wayland Seals was born in McCamey, Texas on 8 February, 1948. He was educated at W W Samuell High School in Dallas where he first met John Ford Coley. He was known as England Dan because he used to affect an English accent to mimic The Beatles. He died at the age of 61 after losing a battle with cancer. A statement on the official Seals and Seals website said: “He leaves behind thousands of fans, countless friends and a loving family ... He will forever be remembered for his gentle smile, easy going demeanour, his enduring faith and endless generosity.”

One of the best all-around musicians of our time! Saw him many many times in concert at "The Crazy Horse", Orange county California. Rest in peace, Dan!

I am so broken hearted to hear of Dan's passing... but I know he is in a much better place. I love this man and his music. My husband Bob and daughter danced to his music for the father/daughter dance at her wedding. Recently I had a very large surprise 60th BD party for my husband and had a video/slide show for our 200 guest; Dan's music played along while we watched the memories of my husband's life. Dan is one in a million and they just don't make um like him anymore. Earth's loss is Heaven's gain. My prayers are with his family and friends.

I was sad to read about England Dan's passing. His song "I'd Really Love to See You Tonight", brings back a lot of memories. I was a college student living in the dorms with a friend. We used to listen to his music during my college days. My sympathies go out to his family. He was a great music artist. R.I.P. Dan.
